A BRIDGE TO THE MOON
Over the course of our senior year at Northwestern University, Ruchir Khazanchi, Emmet Smith, and Mikey wrote the original musical "A Bridge to the Moon." They performed and professionally taped the show in order to share their work in a time in-person performances were unsafe due to Covid-19. This film premiered as a part of the American Musical Theatre Project's Capstone Festival in April 2021.
THE SECRET OF CAMP ELLIOTT
The "90th Annual Waa-Mu Show: The Secret of Camp Elliott" was written based on a pitch that Mikey gave at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Over the course of the academic year, the pitch was developed into a full-length book musical designed to be performed virtually. Mikey also served as dramaturg for the production and finished out their senior year (and fourth year of Waa-Mu) by performing as the character "Kelso" in the production.
SEESAW MUSIC
In addition to being an executive board member of Seesaw Theatre, Mikey was a music director and writer for each of Seesaw's two annual shows all four of their years at Northwestern. Seesaw shows each had original songs and improvised underscoring for each performance. Further shows can be listened to on Soundcloud.
THE "YOU TOO!" PROJECT
September 2021
Through funding from Northwestern's Office of Undergraduate Reasearch, Michael-Ellen received a grant to create an EP of songs that represented and celebrated queer children and non-normative family structures. The other songs from the project can be listened to on Michael-Ellen's SoundCloud.
STATE OF THE ART
May 2020
Alongside Emmet Smith, Ruchir Khazanchi, and Matthew Threadgill, Michael-Ellen was a writing coordinator for the "89th Anuual Waa-Mu Show: State of the Art." The entire show can be watched on Youtube.
FOR THE RECORD
This song was written with Ruchir Khazanchi (who Mikey also collaborated with on "State of the Art" and "A Bridge to the Moon") for the "88th Annual Waa-Mu Show: For The Record." Additional writing of Mikey's was a part of this production and the previous year's production, "Manhattan Miracle."
